How we support

Using a trauma informed and relationship based approach, we provide consistent, compassionate support for young people transitioning from care into independence, recognising the unique challenges, uncertainty and emotional pressures this period can bring. We focus on building self esteem, resilience and self belief, helping young people recognise their strengths while developing practical life skills and emotional stability. Working alongside each young person at their own pace, we provide a trusted and believing presence during times of change. Using the ASP™ (Age, Stage and Phase) model and specialist outcomes frameworks focused on wellbeing, self esteem and positive behavioural change, we support young people to build confidence, independence and brighter futures.

YOB- Be your own Bestie, a 12 week programme
YOB- Be your own Bestie, a 12 week programme

YOB- Be your own Bestie is a 12 week life skills and wellbeing programme for care leavers. It can be delivered by social workers or professionals working with young people, or, where appropriate, accessed directly by young people themselves online from their own devices. Participants receive a support pack, toolkit, reflective journal, self paced support and an online chatbot to help guide them through each session. The programme combines practical independent living skills such as budgeting, shopping and staying on top of appointments with emotional wellbeing and relationship skills such as personal safety and setting healthy boundaries, because for care leavers especially, the ability to be their own source of support, guidance and encouragement can be life-changing. The course content is easy to understand, and every session links back to one central question: "If you were your own best friend, how would you treat yourself in this area of your life?" That consistent thread runs through the whole programme.
