At Believe Again, we believe recovery is about more than stopping harmful behaviours. RISE is Believe Again's self-esteem-based recovery programme designed to support individuals affected by substance use, impulsivity, self harm, and the consequential mental health concerns. Combining self-awareness, accountability, CBT and DBT-informed approaches, RISE helps people understand harmful patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, strengthen self-worth, and create lasting change. Recovery is about more than stopping a behaviour, it's about building a life worth living. Through our self-esteem-first approach, RISE helps people understand themselves, take accountability, develop healthier coping strategies, and build a life they no longer need to escape from. Our specialist practitioners are trained in person centred counselling, psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Using a trauma informed approach, we provide compassionate, non judgmental support for individuals and families affected by substance misuse, recognising that recovery is not linear and that every journey is different. Using the ASP™ (Age, Stage and Phase) model alongside specialist outcomes frameworks focused on self esteem, wellbeing and sustainable behaviour change, we support people to identify their strengths, regain stability and move forward at their own pace. RISE conveys hope, growth, recovery and moving forward, while avoiding the stigma that can come with substance misuse programmes. It aligns with our self-esteem-first philosophy because people don't just stop harmful behaviours, they rise above them.

RISE is built on six core principles: self-esteem as the foundation for change; personal accountability without shame; recovery and growth rather than punishment; simple, accessible frameworks; helping people become their own solution rather than relying on professionals forever; and a hopeful, strengths-based approach. The programme is delivered as a flexible pathway, so people can begin where they are ready and progress at their own pace.
